The Moldovan Railway will increase tariffs for the transportation of Ukrainian grain
From July 1 of this year, the Railway of Moldova (Calea Ferat din Moldova) will increase the tariff for grain transportation by 8%. This was stated by Deputy Director of the Department of Commercial Work of Ukrzaliznytsia Valery Tkachev at a meeting with representatives of agricultural business on June 22, mybusiness.md reports with reference to Interfax-Ukraine.As the official noted, Ukrzaliznytsia twice contacted its Moldovan colleagues (the last time on June 9) and asked for a discount on the transportation of grain and other cargo, but so far to no avail.According to V. Tkachev, Ukrzaliznytsia proposed to equalize Ukrainian and Moldovan tariffs, as well as to announce how much cargo Ukraine should transport through the territory of Moldova to receive discounts.
The difference in tariffs for grain delivery to the elevators of Izmail is $10, Reni’s is $12. If Ukraine could get a discount of about $5, then it would be possible to load not only the direction towards Reni, but also Giurgiulesti,” explained V. Tkachev. The decision of the ZhDM is somewhat strange, since at the beginning of June the Ministry of Agricultural Policy of Ukraine reported that Moldova was going to reduce tariffs for the transportation of Ukrainian grain.
